May Flowers Derby, CT & Dressage Show

The annual CAF May Flowers Derby, Combined Test & Dressage show is scheduled for May 11, 2024. We gear these shows to be a welcoming environment for all competitors, whether it is your first show or you are a experienced competitor. The courses will be true to the level, but with combinations having an additional stride on cross country, and the ability to continue despite refusals. We want everyone to leave the grounds more confident and happy!

Entry Fees

  • $22/class Dressage classes,
  • $50 Combined Tests or two consecutive levels for $85,
  • $60 Eventing Derby or $95 for two consecutive levels
  • $10 lead line for little kids;
  • $20 extra jumping schooling round.
  • $20 late fee for entries received after the closing date— accepted only with permission

Stabling: $30/day permanent stalls on grounds available from 2 PM May 10 through end of show. Early/Late arrivals must be arranged with show management. Bedding available for purchase, $10/bag indicate number needed on entry form. Stalls must be stripped!

Non-Stabled horses: $15/horse. Only entered horses permitted.

Refunds: No refunds after closing date, refunds less $10 office charge before closing date. No refunds if event is canceled due to extremely adverse weather conditions.

Other Information

Substitutions: Substitutions will be allowed for a horse OR a rider in the same class. A $10 change fee will apply. Anything else constitutes a new entry, and will be accepted or not as time allows.

Ride Times: Will be emailed–include legible contact on paper entry.

Arena: Dressage classes will be held in a 20 x 40 M outdoor arena with sand footing; First Level and above will be in a 20 x 60M ring. Jumping classes will be held outside in a 120’ x 200’ all weather sand arena. Event derby—a mix of show jumps on sand footing and cross country fences in the field.
Warm up: Grass and a 60 x 150 indoor with Sand/Rubber/GGT footing.
Awards: Dressage: Six ribbons per class will be awarded. Combined Test: Placing to 8th. Lead line class the kid picks the color.
Directions: From I-465: North on US 31 to 256th Street. West (left) on 256th Street 1.7 miles. Barn is on the north (right) side of the road. Don’t follow Mapquest or your GPS if they try to send you elsewhere!
Facilities: Bathrooms in barn.
Percentage Test: Any test not offered in the Class list, indicate test you wish to ride on entry.
Attire: ASTM helmets are required at all times when mounted. Formal attire is not required. Neat polo shirt (Shirts should not have writing on them), boots and breeches or boot-like half chaps and paddocks are fine. Braiding is optional.
Current State Covid Protocol will be followed (whatever that is at the time)

Due to popular request we will offer a second schooling round in any combined test/event Derby. Second rounds will not be scored or ribboned.

Competitors are required to wear a secured ASTM/SEI helmet at all times when mounted and sign a liability release prior to riding. Forms will be emailed with ride times, please sign and bring to the show. No one will be allowed to compete without a signed release. Parents must sign for minors under age 18.
